Ilero, is the second largest community under Kajola Local Government area of Oyo state. Reportedly relocated to it's present location around 1920s, the community is made up mainly of Muslims, Christians and insignificant number of African Traditional religions as her inhabitants. Ilero is the home to the late renowned Islamic Scholar, Shiekh Mustapha Mubarak Ashile (RTA).
There have been several efforts in the past to put together a forum through which the interests and well being of Muslim community can be safeguarded in the community. One of such was Ilero Muslim Council, an umbrella body of the Ummah, though not registered with government, it was used by earlier leaders of Islam in the community to put their thoughts and aspirations together for many decades.
Besides, Ilero Muslim Community was another forum used to speak with a single voice among Muslims. At various times, associations like Ansar Ud - Deen Society, Anwarul Islam Society, Ansarul Islam Society, Ilero Muslim Youth Forum (IMYOF) and Ilero Concerned Muslims to mention but few, were conceived, but the search among the younger elements for another formidable platform fortified against existential and human factors to aggregate the interests of Muslims in the community, and to support the milestone achieved by our forebears led to the formation of 'Ilero Muslim Think Tank'. This group was the nucleus that birthed the ideas behind the formation of Ilero United Muslim Association (IUMA).
